Oulu Historical Society

In order to preserve the rich Finnish and immigration heritage of our area, the Oulu Historical Society was formed in 2003 and is open to anyone who is interested in research and local preservation, and helping to keep our history alive for generations to come.

One of the first charges of the group was to look at celebrating the centennial of our Town’s beginning in 1904. The planning for the Centennial celebration took place at Oulu Historical Society Meetings during 2003 and early 2004.

We would like to encourage everyone interested in studying and preserving our history to join the Oulu Historical Society.

In addition to the stated mission, the group will:

• Work to stimulate an appreciation of the history of the Oulu area.
• Provide related educational opportunities. 
• Participate in the celebration of area historical milestones. 
• Support related preservation efforts. 
  
• Cooperate with other community groups, businesses, schools, and governmental agencies to accomplish related goals.
